The plot ignites when Antonio, forced to take over the Ferrara crime family, kidnaps Serena Valentino as a strategic move against his rivals. He’s a fierce and possessive antihero bent on revenge, but he is completely unprepared for his captive. I loved that Serena was a strong and independent heroine who challenges Antonio at every turn, refusing to be just a pawn in his game. His fierce need to protect her is every dark romance reader’s dream, and their chemistry is absolutely electric. While their love story is a thrill ride of mystery and shifting loyalties, their connection remains the solid anchor of the book.
The audiobook narration is a chef’s kiss. Samantha Cook perfectly captures Serena’s strength and vulnerability, while Jack Dale embodies the dangerously seductive growl of a mafia king. They bring the characters’ intense dynamic to life, making their journey from captor and captive to devoted lovers incredibly compelling.
