Book Description

A steamy friends-to-lovers, off-limits, pro hockey romance from USA Today and Amazon top #26 bestselling author Jennifer Sucevic.

Steele Sanderson has always been my safe place.
My best friend.
My constant.
My person.
So when I walk in on my boyfriend—who also happens to be my boss—screwing a colleague on his desk, it’s Steele who picks up the pieces.

Now I’m living in his penthouse, crashing in his guest room, and working as his assistant while I figure out what’s next. Every day, I tell myself this is temporary. That just because he looks at me like I already belong to him doesn’t mean I actually do.

Except... Steele doesn’t see it that way.
To him, I’ve always been his.
The only one he’s ever wanted.
The only one he’s ever loved.
He’s protective.
Possessive.
And done waiting.

I keep telling myself that crossing the line could ruin everything—that risking our friendship isn’t worth it. But when he offers a friends-with-benefits arrangement, promising to give me everything I’ve secretly craved, how can I possibly say no?
It doesn’t take long for the lines between us to blur.

Now I have to decide—keep pretending nothing’s changed or finally give in to the man who’s been right in front of me all along.

Make Me Yours is a swoony, boy-obsessed, friends-to-lovers steamy romance with close proximity, undeniable tension, and a hero who has always been all in. It’s the first book in the Chicago Railers series and can be read as a standalone.

My Thoughts

Jennifer Sucevic, a USA Today and Amazon top #26 bestselling author, delivers an exquisitely steamy, off-limits, pro-hockey romance with "Make Me Yours," the first book in the Chicago Railers series. This novel is a friends-to-lovers trope perfected, brimming with palpable tension, undeniable chemistry, and a hero who has always been undeniably "all in."

The story centers on Lilah Monroe, whose world crumbles when she discovers her boyfriend and boss in a compromising position. Her safe place, her constant, her person—Steele Sanderson, her best friend—steps in to pick up the pieces. Now, living in his penthouse and working as his assistant, Lilah grapples with the blurring lines of their relationship. While she tells herself this is temporary, Steele has always seen her as his—the only one he's ever wanted, the only one he's ever loved. His protective, possessive nature comes to the forefront, and he's done waiting. When he proposes a friends-with-benefits arrangement, promising everything she’s secretly craved, resisting becomes impossible. The journey unfolds as Lilah must decide whether to continue pretending or finally surrender to the man who has always been right in front of her. As Steele declares, “I want Lilah Monroe. Not just for tonight. Not just for tomorrow. But for every damn day after.”

"Make Me Yours" was my first foray into Jennifer Sucevic’s work, and it most certainly will not be my last. This book delivered everything I could possibly desire in a friends-to-lovers romance: a tender and sweet narrative, electrifying tension, off-the-charts chemistry, and spice that will leave you breathless. The narrative beautifully develops the romance between Lilah and Steele, allowing them to be flawed, real, and vulnerable. As Steele profoundly states, “Because once we’re through that door, Lilah Monroe belongs to me. Every inch. Every moan. Every heartbeat. Forever.”

Steele Sanderson is the quintessential book boyfriend. He's been in love with Lilah since their college days, but the timing was never right, and the fear of jeopardizing their friendship held him back. Now, with Lilah finally free, he transforms into the ultimate golden retriever hero, dedicated to her happiness. He's supportive, undeniably attractive, and possesses just the right amount of possessiveness and obsession. Lilah, in turn, embarks on a journey of self-discovery, living life for herself, opening up to her friends, and stepping beyond her comfort zone. This evolution allows her to finally acknowledge the profound sense of safety and care Steele has always provided. Their dynamic is the epitome of friends-to-lovers done right: they communicate openly (mercifully free of the miscommunication trope), they support each other, and they care for each other in the most delightful ways (you'll never look at cigars the same way again, and that's a good thing!).

Beyond the captivating main characters, the ensemble of side characters crafted by Jennifer Sucevic is equally exceptional. Lilah's friends—Rina, Callie, and Slone—are an absolute delight, and River is poised to steal hearts when his story arrives.

This book evoked a symphony of emotions: I swooned, I cried, I squirmed, I giggled, and I got goosebumps. I absolutely adored this story and these characters, eagerly anticipating the rest of the series and the unfolding narratives of this remarkable group. As Lilah beautifully summarizes, “He’s mine now. And I’m his. Not just for tonight. Not just until the spark fades. But for all the days ahead. This isn’t the end of our story. It’s just the beginning. And I wouldn’t change a single page.”

Adding another layer of perfection to this experience is the simply exquisite narration by Vanessa Edwin and Christian Fox. Their performances elevate an already phenomenal story into an unforgettable audio journey.
