The author and fellow readers in my Facebook group highly recommended this book series. I was excited to start book 1, and like any great series, it can be read as a stand-alone or within the series

Conner will do anything to protect his family and help them gain power even marry into an Italian family that his birth mother is a member of. All Conner wants is to show his family he belongs even if he was adopted at birth so when asked to marry to form an alliance Conner agrees. Choosing a wife is easy look at a few photos and pick. However, Noemi changed that. From the moment he looks into her eyes Conner feels a connection. Her being mute isn't a factor but he knows there is more to it than she is willing to admit. Can Conner save Noemi not only from herself but from her family too?

Noemi knows too much. She knows what her father did to her mother. All she wants to to be free from him and save herself and her brother. To do that she may need to trust someone not from her family. When her father tells her she is to marry Conner the son of a fellow mob family Noemi thinks her time is running out but then she meets Conner and things change. Could Conner be the one person to save her and her brother and can she trust him with her life and her heart?

This book was so good. It was a slow burn, but man, when it hit, it hit hard. I was completely wrapped up in the story. I was rooting not only for the couple to get together and fall in love but also for Noemi to survive and save her family. I thought Noemi's tactics were genius, especially how she saved herself from her father. I was also completely taken by Conner's need to protect her while being completely enraged by her ability to put herself in danger.

This book had everything action, love, drama, and most of all spice. I am so happy I took the chance to read this book.
