And my journey to read all of Jude's book continues with this wonderful read.

Book Description

Abandoned by a cruel fate, lovely Dougless Montgomery lies weeping upon a cold tombstone in an English church. Suddenly, the most extraordinary man appears. It is Nicholas Stafford, Earl of Thornwyck…and according to his tombstone he died in 1564.

Drawn to his side by a bond so sudden and compelling it overshadows reason, Dougless knows that Nicholas is nothing less than a miracle: a man who does not seek to change her, who finds her perfect, fascinating, just as she is. What Dougless never imagined was how strong the chains are that tie them to the past…or the grand adventure that lay before them.

My Thoughts

I absolutely loved this book. I read for the first time in my late teens. It was the first romance novel I read that dealt with time travel. I admitly fell in love with the characters.

I Found Dougless to be a strong woman yet weak. She was smart and capable but was so desperate for love that she allowed men to use her. This made me want to shake her. But as she spent time with Nicholas she began to see her value.

As for Nicholas, he was everything you would want in a hero once he got past being stuck on himself. He was a gentleman, knew women held value, and was handsome.

I enjoyed how this story played out in two different eras and how each character learned from the others' time. The romance was wonderful if heartbreaking at times. Overall, it is a wonderful story of how love can stand the test of time and how your true soulmate will find you in any century.
