My Thoughts

Jude was one of the first authors I read as a teenager. This was a book I read as a teenager when I got hooked on her writing. some 40+ years later it still holds up.

This is the perfect example of a hero being stupid and letting his jealousy ruin something beautiful.

Ranulf is handsome, strong, and fierce it is how he has earned the name Black Lyon. He hasn't allowed anyone near him or his heart since he was a young boy and got his heart broken. Til he meets Lynette and an equally fierce lioness.

They embark on a whirlwind romance that leads to marriage but lies and jealousy soon tear them apart which leads Lynette in danger. Lynette is a strong heroine in this book she holds her own against Ranulf who roars against her because of his own demons and insecurities.

These two characters are perfect for each other because they are both strong-willed people who don't back down and who will fight for what they want. Jude has a brilliant way of bringing characters to life that you want to root for. Her writing is captivating so much so that you want to return to the story time and again.

I would say this is my favorite book by Jude but that would be hard it would be like trying to pick your favorite child. I will say Jude has once again made me want to return to this story.
