Disclaimer: I was sent a free book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
It's been a long time since I've read a Harlequin Romance so let's dive in.
Book Description
After admitting her forbidden feelings for her boss, Caio Oliveira, coding genius Anushka Reddy is mortified! The only sensible idea is to get a one-way ticket out of town! But then he comes to her with a proposal...
This is no romantic gesture. It’s a simple deal to secure the business they’ve both poured everything into. Yet on Caio’s Brazilian island, the sparks between them become uncontainable! How does Anushka tell Caio that his ring, his jet-set world, even his scorching touch, will never be enough...if his heart is off-limits?
About Tara Pammi
Tara Pammi can't remember a moment when she wasn't lost in a book, especially a romance which, for her, was much more exciting than the workings of an internal combustion engine. Before long, she was hiding romance novels within bigger textbooks, smuggling them into the home through her unsuspecting younger cousin's school bag, and cycling more than a few miles to her favorite library to borrow more.
One fine day, toiling away as a grad student in a basement lab, Tara started typing the beginning of a story instead of her thesis. But it wasn't until a Masters degree and two jobs later, encouraged by her real life hero, Tara realized what she truly wanted to do- Write!
Tara lives in the evergreen state of Washington with her real life hero and her two little girls. When she isn't writing or reading, Tara can be found failing in the kitchen, watching TV or making resolutions to exercise more, or even a little.
My Thoughts
First, I will say this book was a pretty quick read. I finished it about a day and a half, to be honest; I had forgotten how quickly these books go.
As for the story itself, it was pretty predictable.
We have our lead female who is secretly in love with her boss. After telling him of her desires she wants to hide but life goes on. Then when he asks her to marry him as a business deal she says yes.
In the true form of all romances, a marriage of convenience soon turns into more.
Though I found the book to be predictable, it was good. There seemed to be a lot of talk with little action but I was okay with that. The characters for me needed a little more depth but overall not too bad.
I will say this wasn't my favorite read but it was good and quick. I would have given it a 5-star rating but felt it need to be fleshed out a little more.
